LAMENTATION PAGES ITSTORY
An upload-by-upload history of the development of these ST NEWS Lamentation Pages is unveiled below.
Future Plans
Eventually, I intend to re-add all music in the currently more popular (and better-supported) SNDH format. Also, I intend to improve the layout on a few cool articles and make those into separate HTML files. As and when I have time, obviously.
25 April 2007
I removed almost all the external links from the Reference Guide. They were going dead all over the place, and I could no longer find the time and energy to keep them updated. I also updated/changed/de-typo'd some pages.
15 December 2006
Actually, I only fixed a typo. But I intend to do some more stuff soon(-ish).
15 August 2005
Added the final 9 issues worth of articles to the downloads. Just about every single article ever appearing in a regular issue of "ST NEWS" (i.e. not the compendia) can now be found here, in RTF format. Also fixed a broken picture link.
15 September 2004
Updated the download section. Many of the ST NEWS ZIP files have had modified ST_NEWS.PRG versions added, called FIXED.PRG, which will allow the issues to run on STeem (and possibly other emulators). Additional (STeem) TOS version compatibility notes have been added, too. These fixes were done by the inestimably capable Mike "MUG UK" Mee. Hail!
11 August 2004
Updated the Reference Guide entry on Lars Johansson.
30 April 2004
The Reference Guide has been updated to reflect some recent offspring-related developments in the Karsmakers household!
23 April 2004
I added some more RTF versions of ST NEWS articles. This is mainly thanks to Mr. Mike "MUG UK" Mee fixing some issues so that they'll run on "STeem". More to follow shortly - indeed, probably, all.
14 April 2004
Thanks to my discovering STeem, I have managed to get a few extra ST NEWS issues to run. Thus, I have managed to extract some more articles from a variety of issues so that we're getting yet another step closer to having all ST NEWS articles ever (in roughly converted RTF format) available on this site, organised in ZIP files per issue. More to follow in due course. I also restored the ST NEWS executable downloads.
25 February 2004
I have checked all links and updated some entries in the reference guide. The site should be certified "100% OK" now.
6 September 2003
I got married yesterday, and Stefan became a father that very same day. So the Reference Guide things have been updated somewhat to that extent.
8 August 2003
Nothing much changed. In fact, I should be checking all external links some day soon but I haven't had the time so far. The only thing that changed was the main menu Java applet by Warren Willmey. It's been optimized and debugged. Hail! Check out his site at http://RealmDesigns.Russki.net.
12 January 2003
The Reference Guide sections on "Posthuma, Stefan" and "Karsmakers, Richard" have been updated to reflect some rather significant changes in their respective personal lives.
3 January 2003
I have added the first (Volume 1) ST NEWS files to the download section. For some obscure reason they appear to have been missing for at least half a year. Probably an oversight on my side. I also checked all external links - a gargantuan task, I can tell you - which resulted in some being ditched and a couple of dozen being updated. I also added a few. The Reference Guide bit about Mark van den Boer has been updated again, as well as some other (smaller) bits.
21 August 2002
Because of recent discoveries involving Llamasoft, Jeff Minter and Pocket PCs, I have added a sheepy link to the Reference Section and updated the entry on Jeff Minter. Also, Mark van den Boer's entry has been updated.
3 July 2002
Finally - and it was about time - I have checked all external links again. So these pages should be all immaculate again, at least from a webly perspective. I have also worked in some new links here and there (though in the reference secion in particular), and made sure all the downloads work again. One of them, for some reason, seemed to point to a file I have never actually had myself. Weird.
24 May 2002
Development of these pages has been a bit on the back burner. So there might be a few broken links in the Reference Guide...I am not sure when I'll have the time to check 'em. The only reason (and a very good one) for this update is Warren Willmey's amazingly cool Java applet he did. You will probably already have seen it by the time you read this. If not, check it out at the top of the main menu. I am not much of a Java expert myself, but methinks it's pretty amazing.
2 January 2002
The Reference Guide entry on 'Magnat' was improved. And...um...I really ought to check all them external links again some day soon. I've got ADSL now, so it's on my list of things to do. I also changed the Atari WebRing stuff because it moved from Yahoo back to WebRing.Org.
6 October 2001
The ST News issue downloads (the full issues) has been physically relocated.
1 September 2001
The page was physically moved, so loads of links were altered to reflect that. Also, the "ST News" issue downloads had ceased to work, they're fixed. Also, the history of this site prior to 2001 was ditched.
29 July 2001
To all intents and purposes I am now a divorced man. Karin found someone else in her life, and I am totally smashed. No worry, I won't go into the details. So I had to update various parts of the site to that effect...
28 June 2001
Came across some really cool humorous links to put under yet more words in the Reference Guide. That document has really become quite a brilliant repository of links, even if I say so myself...
16 June 2001
I am almost - but not quite - too ashamed to admit it, but all those links added to the Reference Guide also meant a lot of bad HTML as I had skipped closing or opening tags and other such terrible things. There were quite a few HTML typos as well. Horrible. Thanks to CSE HTML Validator Lite I have been able to find them, fix them, and lose some of my shame. I also added a link to a cool Rob Hubbard site in the Reference Guide, as well as the White Noise site.
10 June 2001
In the past week I have upgraded almost the entire site, but most notably the Reference Guide. It was hopelessly outdated already, so it's now entirely up-to-date again. Also, all the links (in the Hot Links section, now removed) have been worked back into the Reference Guide. I also fixed some more stuff (primarily HTML coding-wise) and ditched the Disk Magazine WebRing and various small obscure pages that were in the site still. Importantly, I have also made much more obvious the link to the ZIP files containing RTF versions of 984 ST NEWS articles. They're rough, they're dirty, they look like crap, but the contents of those articles is all there. For now I will spend less time on this site for a while, because the STNICCC site needs to be entirely redone and STNICCC webmaster Alex "The Nutty Snake" Crouzen has no time on his hands to do it. The layout of the pages has been made more conform.
23 February 2001
Next to nothing was done: The links to my own wedding pictures were wrong, and I fixed that.
5 January 2001
It was that time again: The links had to be checked. A few sites have been removed, a few added, a few changed. A few link descriptions have changed, too. But that's about it. Oh yeah, some of the STNICCC 1990 pictures in the gallery could no longer be found. Those links have been removed too.
